Before we can understanding the meaning of the settlor we must first understand settlement.
The word settlement mean by which enjoyment of an estate, or part of it is transferred to another person, either through a disposition, trust, or covenant ,agreement, arrangement or transition of assets by reference to a Trust,for the benefit of persons specified.
Therefore , a settlor in relation to a settlement, includes a person by whom the settlement was made or entered in to directly or indirectly ,and in particular ( but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing) includes a person who has provided or undertaken to provide funds directly or indirectly for the purpose of the settlement, or has made with any other person a reciprocal arrangement for that other person to make or enter in to the settlement.
