BarnBridge is a volatility derivatives protocol used to hedge yield sensitivity and market price. The BOND token is an ERC-20 token. BarnBridge aims to reduce the risks associated with DeFi by allowing users to select a risk profile and redistributing risks via tokenized, liquid tranches. With its SMART Yield and SMART Alpha products, BarnBridge plans to create the first cross platform derivatives protocol for any and all fluctuations.
Key Characteristics of BarnBridge
The two key problems that BarnBridge is now attempting to solve are yield sensitivity and market price.
Yield SMART. Through interfaces with lending markets like Compound and Aave, SMART Yield gives consumers fixed or levered variable yield on their stablecoins. It pools user deposits into these platforms' underlying markets and divides the yield on the total between two groups of users with various risk profiles.
Smart Algorithm. By dispersing the performance of an aggregated pool of the underlying asset between two user groups—a senior side and a junior side—SMART Alpha enables users to calibrate their exposure to the performance of an underlying asset. The junior side of the pool receives levered exposure whereas the senior side of the pool receives dampened exposure to both upward and downward movements. In other words, in exchange for more upside potential, junior depositors purchase asset price risk from senior depositors and guarantee them price protection up to a specified threshold.
