Some would be employees present references on their resume that are fake. As an employer you can detect this by using these telltale signs to “out” fake references:
Vague information, the information is always too vague:as the reference just give general answers that gloss over specific questions as they might not really know the person's enough
Give more personal information, The reference gives information that is more personal:than work related especially if it is written by a family member
Information difference, the person presented for reference has a different online information. This is when the reference information about self don't align with information on online sources like LinkedIn and Google searches. it can come from a colleague and not the past boss.
