Home-based treatments and herbal remedies are considered "safe alternative" to various kinds of allopathic medicines. It is generally believed that home-based remedies are safe and effective because they contain no harmful chemicals and this means that there are no side effects. However, the fact of the matter is that home-based remedies can still be dangerous if you do not know what you are doing. There have been cases where a man consumed so many apricot kernels that over consumption of apricot kernels led to cyanide poisoning. In fact, there was a case of a woman who tried to deal with athlete's foot by using garlic on her foot and in return she was rushed to the emergency room because garlic actually harmed her. So, all those folks who rely on home-based remedies, please always consult a herbalist or a person who is an expert when it comes to home-based remedies before taking a decision of your own.

The garlic is hot on the skin. When my eldest brother was bitten by a dog he cleansed the wound and applied crushed garlic. Fortunately he was brought to a doctor for the rabies shot on the next day. The wound did not look good because it was burned by the garlic. The doctor warned us of using home remedy with no proof of healing.

It's not advisable to be using home based medicine that you are not sure of! Some home based medicine can be very poisonous because of the unethical or unorthodox ways which are used in preparing them. I think it's better to use what you have knowledge of, maybe pharmaceutical drugs or we should visit hospital.

Sure, we shouldn't practice what will cause us harm in our health when we aren't sure of what we are doing. Home remedy should be taking when we know how to apply the herbal medicines. If not sure, the herbal man is there for consultancy help to clear us what is needed to be applied.

You are very much correct. People that prepare home based remedies without proper knowledge not what they are doing are usually at the risk of causing serious harm to themselves or the people they are preparing these home based remedies for . Most people don't know that some herbs contain poisonous substances not suitable for human consumption and once consumed could result in serious damages to certain organs in the human body. We should be encouraged to me certified practinioners if we are to go the way of home based remedies.
