Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) are a type of investment vehicle that allows individuals to invest in real estate without actually owning property. REITs were created by Congress in 1960 to give individual investors the opportunity to invest in real estate, just as they would in stocks or bonds. Types of REITs
