Most of these things will depend on the individual and what he or she needs from the internet that will determine the most easiest way of making money. well base on my experience there are so many of them you can actually make money from ranging from the easiest one which to me I believed it to be the paid to post website to the most complicated one which I believe to be programming and freelancing.

The simple fact is that what works for one person may not actually work for another person and in that case, you cannot state categorically the best way to make money on the internet because for example, there are many people who make money on cryptocurrency and if you ask them, they will tell you that cryptocurrency trading is the best and there are also people making money an affiliate marketing and if you ask them, they will tell you that affiliate marketing is the best.
So that is how it goes, there is no particular business that is the best and there is no one that is the worst but what matters is your level of knowledge and commitment to make money from that particular venture. The best way to make money online are popular ways we all understand. Personally if I have opportunity I will choose to make money from the following ways
1) Freelancing: this is just one of the best way for me , at least if I can be able to learn a skill it is quite possible for me to monetize the skill on freelance platform. Although this might be quite difficult to start at the beginning but I believe with dedication a freelancer can still make money nowadays even with the face of high competition.
2) Trading of cryptocurrency or Forex: this is another way of making money online and it could be quite profitable for traders especially those that have dedicated their time to learn and understand what trading is all about. It's not just advisable for upcoming trader to start trading when they don't really understand the rules of the volatile market because it will mostly end in tears.
Apart from those two I have mentioned , there are other online business that can also generate some profits to you such as affiliate marketing but I don't really know much about affiliate that is why I can't really say much on it
