In big companies it is a standard to have a staff meeting regularly. It is common to have a monthly meeting after work hours with refreshments. After the meeting is like an informal party for those who want to stay and those who want to go can go.

The main purpose of the meeting is a bonding session in the form of the reports. After the staff has reported the manager would recite his own report to give the staff an idea of how the company is doing. It is important for the staff to know if the company is earning and what direction it will be taking regarding the personnel.
