Exportation of foodstuffs is one highly lucrative business that alot of people don't know about. Some are quite naive because at the mention of "exportation" which they believe it's a tedious process and would require alot of money to start. The truth is that yu could even start as a small investor with a capital of about N150,000 to N 200,000 naira and grow rapidly as you make more profits
This is because there is an ever increasing demands of African foods in Europe and the USA due to the fact that alot of native Africans who had migrated and who continue to migrate miss the native African dishes that they were brought up with and wouldn't mind consuming them even outside the continent. As a result of this, alot of African and Nigerian restaurants have been set up in particular areas in these foreign countries while a higher population of Africans. These restaurants depends on foodstuff supply coming from Africa and are always looking for sellers of these foodstuff.
Examples of native foodstuff that are exportable because of their high demands abroad includes: ogbono, lemon, Shea butter, ugu, utazi, uziza leaves, stockfish, dried fish, ofada rice, yam and fufu flour and many more.
To get started, you could create a website where you could advertise your products and meet buyers abroad who would always be interested. You could also use social media to advertise your foods.
Also, as a small investor, you could use the Nigerian postal services NIPOST in order to send your products to addresses of buyers across the world after an agreement or contract have been reached. And of course you would be paid in hard currency.
However, it is advisable to attend seminars and programs on food exportation in order for you to meet other experienced persons in this business. This will further guide you on what foodstuff you should choose to sell, and where to sell.

The subject of importation and exportation is a very interesting one. one that one of us are shying away from even with the enormous benefits it offers. I so much believe one thing that is responsible for this is ignorance, as most people feel it is exclusive to a set of people or that it requires so much fund. While this is not, this myth has to be debunked.
But in all fairness too, i believe exportation is not as easy and straight forward as it is always portrayed. A good aspect that needs to be taken care of before a product can meet up for export is standardization.

What you said is true no doubt. Its really sad when I see farmers store their some of these exportable products for a long time while waiting for buyers. And in the process, some of these products gets spoilt or lose value. Only if the farmers knew that there is high demand for these products abroad, at the end of the day, they eventually sell them at a loss.
Our farmers need to be enlightened about how to make more money from their products not only in the local market, but most importantly, at the international level.
And as you rightly put, it's not as easy as it would seem. But if the farmers could partner with agro allied industries and cooperative societies and also the government, it would be alot easier for them as they would be taught about all the intricacies of this lucrative trade. And with time they would be able to do it on their own.

I have seen how the bananas here are exported. Right after harvesting the fruits are submerged in a liquid for "curing" so it will last longer in the shelf. It would be sent by ship. The attendant said that they earn 3 times more when they export compared to the revenue they earn when they sell in the local market. But exporting is not an easy activity, so many documents are required.

The Nigeria government has really failed us its citizen in the agricultural sector, imagine a country without no standard agricultural technologies where farms product can be stored for a long time cause most of the farm products are perishable and might not last long be for they caught spoilt. Though exporting farm products to other countries won't be an easy task but with the right connection one might easily be fully involved in the business without any sort of srress

Food stuff exportation is a very lucrative business to go into because you get to export foods that are most times not grown in the country you are exporting to, so you get paid in foreign currency. It however requires a lot of investment like getting the licence to export, you also need to have a warehouse for storage prior to export.

Food stuff export business is a very good business but it requires a lot of process and formalities. It is not something u can wake up and start and also it requires a huge amount of money and connection outside ones country to be able to fluently manage the business. But once set up it can fetch the owner a real deal of money

Food export business offers a great opportunity for massive profits. It is a very lucrative business if done properly. There are so many superstores and groceries in the United States and Europe that are eagerly waiting for high quality food supplies. You just have to join a union, register your business, source for quality products and know your target market.

Exportation of foods stuffs is one the profitable businesses. But to be successful In this business, you need to have enough capital to start up the business. Because to transport goods from one country to the other, is not on small budget. And again, you need to make enough research about the foodstuffs you want to be exporting, if they don't have enough of it in those countries.
