McDonald's has been bombarded with requests to accept the meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin on its official Twitter account.

This arose after the Chicago-based behemoth sent a picture of Doge holding a French fry in his mouth to Bill Markus, the meme coin's creator.

McDonald's responded as expected, stating that it will continue to review its customers' payment experiences.

McDonald's joined on the non-fungible token bandwagon in November, presenting its inaugural collection of NFTs to commemorate the McRib's 40th anniversary.

MacCoin was introduced in July 2018 by the fast-food restaurant company. Many imagined it was the company's foray into crypto after the 2017 crypto fever peaked, however it was only a gimmick voucher for a free burger with nothing to do with blockchain.
