I am not sure how it is in other countries but I know where I live in England, UK babysitting is something that teens usually do for family and friends for their children. I know when I was around 15 years old I was regularly hired by a family friend to look after her son and then someone else hired me as well to take care of their child as well. It was a nice way to earn extra money and because the parents of the child knew me they knew I was trustworthy enough. This is ideal to give teens some kind of responsibility. My daughter now does the same thing with her friends, they will babysit two young boys one of which is a family member of her friend and the other is a friend of the family member's nephew. Again this is a good way to show responsibility.

When working in professional settings though for something such as babysitting you will need proof of any training or courses you have done with certificates, you will also need to take what we call here a DBS which checks all your background for any issues with breaking the law and I would also have people who can give you references as well.
