Is search engine ads truly beneficial to the traffic?

The search engine ads are the links of a website that appears on top of the list, usually in the top 3. That makes it conspicuous for the searcher to see and to click if he desires. Pardon me but I have no idea of the exact cost of the ads in search engines but they say it is quite costly.

If you work on the SEO of your site regularly your website’s link may reach the top 10 or even top 5. You can pay an SEO specialist to work on your site with a guarantee that you site’s link will be in the top 5 in the search engine list. Now this question, which is more practical, to pay an SEO specialist or to advertise your site in the search engine?

In order to run ads on search engines, you will have to target your ads for specific keywords and bid on the CPC for the target keywords, the highest bid wins and the ads appear when someone searches for that keywords. I think it is better to pay a search engine optimisation specialist to do the work for you instead of running ads, though not bad. Some people include myself do not click any website that is carrying the ad tag. So, appearing naturally on the search engine is much better than running ads. But one advantage running ads has over paying a specialist is because it is guaranteed.

Search engine ads are very expensive. The average cost per click on google search is $1.28. You will have tom pay $1.28 to Google of your ads on google search gets clicked. If you are advertising on search engine just for traffic, it is not helpful but if you are selling products, this can help.
