Is Employee Performance Appraisal Needed?

I think employee assessment needs to be done because each employee will have different abilities, skills, talents, levels of craftsmanship and laziness. In a small business or company that only has less than 20 employees, it may not be necessary to perform a specific performance appraisal, but only with direct supervision by the business owner or manager.
So, through performance appraisal, employers can give bonuses to outstanding and diligent employees, job placements that match the employee's abilities, promotions, etc.
