No, cryptocurrency is not the same as a digital currency. The concept of digital currency is wider; cryptocurrency is one subset of it. Any currency, money, or money-link assets that are created, stored, and exchanged on digital computer systems or over the internet are called digital currencies, according to its definition on Wikipedia.

Wikipedia says there are three types of digital currency: cryptocurrency, virtual currency, and central bank digital currency (CDBC). Cryptocurrency is one type of digital currency with the foundation of blockchain technology and the consensus mechanism of PoW or PoS. It is decentralized and transparent. Virtual currency is electric money neither issued by the central authority nor attached to fiat currency. It's usually accepted by a specific number of people in a virtual community or as an alternative to money. CDBC is issued by the central bank and governed by the authority. It works as the digital representation of physical fiat money.
