Yes I very much I agree with you on those points you have highlighted, government ownership of the means of production and distribution is suppose to be a very big plus to us as citizens of this nation. Public corporations and enterprise are been setup primarily for the purposely for rendering essential services and provision of basic amenities and not for the purpose of profit making as is what we see today. Those public enterprise are all set up by the government to render essential services, as the funds that are used in building those facilities are all owned by the tax payers. And for that reason we expect the government to setup programs that will favour the general public and create employment opportunities for all those that are able and willing to work. And also the government should be able to provide stable electric power supply, construction of good roads, construction of hospital and schools, and all other social amenities that will make the economy much better than what it is today. But unfortunately that is not the case here in this country as what we see is corruption and nepotism. And we also witness a very high level of mismanagement by the government.

Your statement is correct. Any business own by any government should be to help it citizens to be living a better life. Sometime the operation of government enterprise may served as a threat to some private enterprise because there own is for their own interest..
But some times when government of a country is not doing well then its advisable to really solely on it.
