There are a few ways to make money by creating and selling plugins:

Develop a plugin for a popular content management system (CMS) such as WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal, and sell it on the respective platform's marketplace or your own website.

Create a plugin for a specific niche or industry, and sell it to businesses or individuals within that niche.

Offer a premium version of a free plugin, with additional features and support, for a one-time or recurring fee.

Develop a plugin for a specific e-commerce platform such as WooCommerce, Shopify, or Magento, and sell it on the respective marketplace or your own website.

It's important to note that, in order to be successful, your plugin needs to solve a specific problem, be easy to use, have a good user interface and have good customer support. Additionally, you should be prepared to market your plugin and continue to update and improve it over time.

Knowing how to sell your plugins is as important as knowing how to create plugins. In order to sell plugins, you can trey various digital marketplaces. These platforms provide a number of services to help you get the most out of your plugins. Whether you are a developer looking to sell your plugins or even a marketer to do affiliate marketing, these plugin marketplaces can help you find what you need.

I have not divulged in this field yet but I believe it can be profitable. That's because there are a lot of content management systems and you can build plugins specific to these contet management systems and sell to the users of these content management systems. I believe, you can successfully sell plugin only when genuinely solves a problem, features a user-friendly interface, and provides excellent customer support. Effective marketing, regular updates, and improvements are also vital for long-term success. Your plugin should also be unique.
