Event planning is a venture that involves a person or an agency working to ensure the success of events on behalf of the event owners or celebrants. Planning for an event could be stressful and most people outsource this task to persons or agencies that are specialists in event handling to work them out professionally. It is a business that can be very profitable if done properly. I would say that there are lots of mega-events planners with a whole lot of equipment. This post however is about how a complete newbie who has just self-belief can enter this industry.

You don't need to have fancy equipment to start out as an event planner. The first thing I would advise a person who wants to enter this industry to do is brand himself/herself. This is one business that the need to brand is paramount. Choose a business name, get a logo and print your complimentary cards. I would advise that you start taking up small events like birthday parties, Street shows, etc to build your profile. You can get this kind of event by dropping your card at eateries, buses, worship centers, and other public places. When you get calls, don't expect to make much profit. Just be focused on delivering classic events. You can deliver the events by renting equipment. Also, try and build relationships with people who could be of help to you. People like musicians, car rentals, media people, caterers, and security outfits. This would make it easy for you to rent equipment from them.

Slow and steady, you would grow to be a big brand in event planning.

Are you ready to start your event planning business ?

Here are some tips for starting an event planning business:

1) Find out what kinds of events people are hosting in your area. If there aren't any similar events already happening, then you can brand yourself as the one who will bring them to life!

2) Get some promotional materials together (like flyers) and make sure they are eye-catching. You want people to know that they should expect an amazing experience when they come to your event!

3) Make sure there is enough room for outdoor seating at every location where you plan on holding events like weddings, parties or conferences/workshops. This will help ensure that people have a great time outdoors with friends and family during their party or event!

4) Think about how many hours per week would be required for each type of event that you plan on hosting - this will determine how much income potential there is for your business idea!
