When you sign up with a company as their affiliate marketer, they will give you a unique URL. This unique URL is called an affiliate link.

This affiliate URL or link contains a special piece of code in it that will help track the source of anyone who clicks on it.

On every occasion someone clicks on the affiliate link, a special file known as a cookie is installed on the user’s device browser.

This affiliate cookie does help the merchant track the source of the sale which in this case, points you as the publisher who initiated the sale.

Affiliate marketing is something that has really got a lot of people's attention on the internet because of how lucrative it is.

Anywhere you go on the internet and people are talking about online businesses, you must see a lot of people talking about affiliate marketing and this is an indication that it is a very lucrative business venture and at the same time it is very competitive. Affiliate marketing is not really hard to understand because when you promote people's product and make money then what you are doing is affiliate marketing.

It is just like when you write an e-book and give it to another person to promote for you and when there is any sale, the person will give you a certain percentage and take the rest.

There are a lot of affiliate marketing platforms in which you can venture into and start your affiliate marketing journey such as clickbank, digistore24 and the whole lot of them. After signing up and you want to promote a product, you have to go to the Affiliate marketplace and click on the product you like. After that a link will be given to you which will be used to track every sale you make.
