How banking institutions aid scams.

Banking institutions are supposed to ensure the safety of one's money without allowing us to lose our money to scammers. However, there are times where these banks fail in their responsibility and customers are left to their own fate. The way things happen would make you think that the banks are actually aiding scams.
A classical example is how we have seen a surge in The way scammers call customers and pretend to be bank officials requesting for valuable information to upgrade their account or verify something. It is sometimes hard to detect if they are scammers because they will tell you your full name, bank verification number and other details, so you may not suspect anything until you start seeing debit alerts of transactions you know nothing about.

I think banks are not doing much in protecting the data of their customers, that is why scammers have easy access to the information and use it to go about their dealings?

In your example, what has the bank got to do with the scammers calling the customer? For me, it is the responsibility of the customer to discern the call and they should know that banks do not call their customers unless there is a suspected illegal withdrawal. Asking for the data of the customer is already obvious that it is not the bank.
