Effects of Climate Change on Our Health

Climate change is something that is gradually happening and is being grossly underestimated by people, especially in developing countries like mine. However, we are also beginning to feel the impacts, as we had a very bad case of flooding this year, leading to loss of lives, crops and property.

Climate change can also have effects on our health, especially in the age classes that have weaker or undeveloped immune systems like the children, aged and immunocompromised.
Some of the effects we can readily see are the increases in respiratory and cardiovascular disorders, changes in the rate of spread of infectious diseases and overall cost of healthcare and reduction in quality of life.

The consequences must not be directly on our health, but it may come as a result of other sectors being affected. For example climate change is one of the causes of food insecurity, which makes food more expensive or even hard to get, causing malnutrition and lower immunity.

Climate change is a big deal. It's affecting our health in many ways, including making it harder for us to stay healthy. Here are some of the ways climate change is affecting your health:

1. Heat Waves: Heat waves are a major threat to public health. They can cause respiratory problems, heat stroke and cardiac arrest. The elderly, the young and those with chronic medical conditions are at risk of heat-related illness during heat waves.

2. Drought: Drought has been linked to increased morbidity and mortality among infants and children. Drought can increase the risk of malnutrition by limiting access to food and water supplies.

3. Sea Level Rise: Sea level rise is already causing damage to coastal areas around the world, including rising tides that lead to flooding. In addition, as sea levels rise due to climate change we're likely to have more frequent large storms like hurricanes or typhoons which also have an impact on our health through increased flooding along with storm surge damage caused by high waves hitting shorelines".

Extreme climate change will not only affect animals, the environment and nature but will also have an impact on human health, such as excessive heat changes will cause heart disease and damage to the brain. On the other hand, extreme cold weather will cause the body's immune system/immunity to decrease so that it will be susceptible to diseases such as flu, fever and cough. If you live in a flood-prone area, the effects of flooding can have a negative impact on human psychology or become traumatized from the terrible effects of floods. In fact, food insecurity will be the duty of the government to provide food and control prices so that people will be able to meet better nutrition.
