Many people suffer from allergy. Symptoms vary from individual to individual and there are treatments and steps that can be taken to reduce the amount of reactions it may cause. Allergy is an abnormal immune system reaction to certain substances called allergens.
According to the National Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, between forty to fifty million people suffer from allergic disease in the United States. In is estimated that there are at least six allergens or substances that cause a reaction in every home.
When these allergens or substances come in contact with the body, the body identifies these allergens as invaders and reacts by releasing antibodies. Some of these antibodies protect the body from certain undesirable things that could cause an infection or diseases.
