Do calls ignite gas explosion or it is just an heasay?

This question has been baffling me for months and I have not received a satisfying answer. Some say receiving calls can ignite the gas to explode while some believe there is no theory that supports that. I became more curious because of an incident that happened a few years ago in my state.

It was said that the woman received a call near a filling station and she was some distance away. The call was said to have caused the flare but reports also said it could be the gas molecules. Probably the gas molecules have been colliding with the walls of the container and as they expanded, the container busted.

Since then, my mom has been warning me never to come close to the gas with my mobile phone as I could pick calls while cooking. Similarly, while filing gas, I was told to switch off my data as it may also cause an explosion. All of these baffles me and my findings have given no better results.

What is your answer to this question and I would like to be thoroughly convinced?
