The most obvious disadvantage of earpieces is that they make the user sound like a robot, telemarketer or something else artificial. A big advantage of phone conversations over face-to-face communication is the tone and inflection of the speaker's voice. When you wear an earpiece, you lose that advantage as well as sounding less natural. Similarly, the receiver of the call can perceive the caller using an earpiece as suspicious or overly professional. Everyday use of an earpiece can cause a range of health problems. While hearing aids help many people, an earpiece can also cause damage to internal structures in the ear. Combining hearing aids with cell phone earpieces can push the volume levels to unsafe ranges. An earpiece has advantages and disadvantages depending on several factors unique to your body's physiology and lifestyle. 1. You should know that if you use an earpiece you may develop potential hearing loss problems because of constant exposure to noise or sound. 2. Ears irritation - When you use an earpiece for a long period of time, your ears will experience some irritation. 3. Throat cancer - Some studies have shown that using an earpiece can also lead to throat cancer and it can even grow to the lungs. The disadvantages of using an earpiece are the risk of ear infection and damage to your hearing. An ear infection can occur if you use the device incorrectly or improperly clean it. Damage to your hearing can result if you listen at too high a volume or for too long. With an earpiece, there is a habit some have of talking too loudly into the device. This can be especially problematic in public places. The earpiece also does not serve as the best audio output, and can sometimes result in muffled sound or sound that echoes on both your end and the end of the person you are talking to. Some people have reported feeling uncomfortable when talking with an earpiece, a problem that may arise from its position in their ear, while others report annoyance with having to constantly hold the device against their face. There is also concern that as you talk on your phone, people will think you are speaking to them and talk back.
