When you choose your ideal customer, it implies that you know what kind of customers are likely to benefit most from your services with whom you can work better.

Even when you have a well-established niche market, people who belong to it may have different needs that may make a sale impossible.

If you cannot sell, that is if you cannot offer your products and services the customers want to buy, it is an indication that you do not have a real customer.

When you know, who are not yet become your customers, they are called prospects. However, you also need to choose the best prospects.

Yea, in addition, a happy and satisfied customer will always help spread the word about your business to family and friends. This is the best strategy because you don't get to spend, and attract or keep new customers. As they are satisfied, they help you.

When I was managing my retailing business we spend half a day once a week for prospecting. We make a list of the prospective customers which are companies who have computers – our business is retailing computer supplies. When the list is long we study the companies on the list if they have the potential to be a customer. Those companies that passed the test would be called by phone and some would be visited to offer our products. Prospecting is not easy but if you are good then you can get more customers.
