The Central Bank of Nigeria as of today, began the formal process of launching an investigation into the activities of cryptocurrency companies and their bank accounts. With backing from majority of Bureau de change operators that supports the ban of cryptocurrency in Nigeria. The CBN claimed the investigation is solely to block suspected activities of fraudsters an those with suspicious transactions.
The CBN claims they got Intel from the Federal Bureau of Investigation(FBI) that fraudsters are using the cover of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin to illegally bring in hundreds of millions of dollars allegedly stolen in the USA and other Western countries.
The main issue is that, they want to classify everybody together, both those that is cryptocurrency for legitimate reason and those that don't. I would love forum members to give their opinion on this.
