Business opportunities in agriculture

There are a lot of people that whenever the issue of agriculture comes across them it is to go and cultivate crops. This is usually not the entire thing because agriculture is aimed at the production of crops and animals up to the extent in which it is going to reach the final consumers. There are so many opportunities that you can be able to explore for yourself in agriculture apart from the cultivation of crops .

1. Food storage. One of the biggest problems of food crisis in this country is because food is not properly stored and it is because there is lack of proper personnel and equipment to do it . You can be able to jump into the food storage industry and you can make a lot of money from it .

2. Food transport and logistics. After food has been produced and cultivated there is always going to be there needs to take it to the market where people can be able to buy them. You can create an industry that is completely focused on the transportation of food items from where they are produced to where they can be bought .

3. Irrigation. You can also choose to focus on the production of irrigation materials and water to local farmers .

You are right that a farmer should think not only of the planting and cultivation of the crops. The most important part of farming is getting a good farm gate price. Our government had neglected the farming industry. Right now the trader or middlemen get the most profit. The trader has the truck to transport the farm product to the market. They would offer a price for the harvested farm products. If the farmer would refuse the offer then his product would spoil or rot. In other words the farmer is like hostage to the trader. When the products reach the market it is again the trader that dictates the price to the market vendors. If the vendor will refuse then he has nothing to sell for the day. It is easy to see that the trader is getting the most profit and the government should do something about it.

You are all right and both have said a good points, but my own thinking is different because farmers has done a great work from the day ploughing to the time of harvesting. But the problems comes from the marking part of it.

It would have been better if government did not neglect they are own part by helping the farmer to sell their product. But now that the government are not responsible for that, another business opportunity can come from this side except for the Farmer to plant crops alone.

Farmer can also create a marketing links that will help them to sell their products in which some farmer will specialise on marketing skills which is going to help them sell their products themselves. They will call them self agricultural product marketers only.

For example Like I have maize and i should go and sell it directly to the company that need raw materials for Coneflower.
