Ebola is a contagious disease caused by infection with the Ebola virus. It has a high risk of death, killing between 25% and 90% of those infected, with an average of about 50%. It is one of the world's most virulent diseases.

Symptoms may appear anywhere from two to 21 days after exposure to ebolavirus though eight to 10 days is most common.
