Therefore, agriculture has brought about new farming endeavors that promise to eliminate obesity and malnutrition’s opposing problems.

Agriculture, in general, enables the rapid growth of farmers’ markets. The farmer’s markets allow small-scale farmers to interact directly with the consumers. Therefore, the food system will remain within the local economy since the produce is locally produced, eliminating the urge or need for long-distance transportation. Consumers reap the benefits of healthier food options, and at the same time, farmers benefit from the rising opportunities to sell their farm produce. Additionally, consumers get first-hand information about the farm produce and how to grow them. Therefore farmers and consumers mutually benefit from agriculture, thus enhancing their lives.

There are many advantages to agriculture which are to be mentioned later.

Agricultural development also refers to the way of thinking which value and utilizes the advantages/resources provided by nature, so as to meet human beings' food, fodder, fiber, medicine, recreation and other needs. Agriculture is regarded as an important industry and a basic production industry. Better agriculture improves people's livelihood, deepens and develops social productivity.


Increasing food production worldwide is necessary to ward off hunger, which threatens more than one billion people. Currently, the majority of agricultural crops are produced using crops grown with pesticides and farming methods that have been deemed unsustainable.

Agriculture is necessary in the function of the society. A few of them are food, raw materials and fuel. Farmers produce most of these essential products. The principal necessities that they use to maintain and increase agricultural activity are organic fertilizers, chemical fertilizers and mineral fertilizers. Use of organic fertilizer is pretty significant in agricultural activities because minimizes substantially the use of chemical fertilizers. Humans once subsisted by hunting and gathering, foraging for available food wherever it could be found. These early peoples necessarily moved frequently, as food sources changed, became scarce or moved in the case of animals. This left little time to pursue anything other than survival and a peripatetic lifestyle. Human society changed dramatically approximately 12,000 years ago, possibly related to the ending of the last ice age, when agriculture began. People began planting collected seeds, harvesting them and selecting successful crops. This encouraged people to make permanent homes. With a settled lifestyle, other pursuits flourished, essentially beginning modern civilization.

Some advantages of agriculture includes:

1. Controllable food supply. You might have droughts or floods, but if you’re growing the crops and breeding them to be hardier, you have a better chance of not starving.

2. Especially if you grow grain, you can create a food surplus, which makes cities possible and also the specialization of labour. Like, in the days before agriculture, everybody’s job was foraging, and it took about a thousand calories of work to create a thousand calories of food, and it was impossible to create large population centres.

3. Agriculture can be practised all over the world, although in some cases it takes extensive manipulation of the environment, irrigation, controlled flooding, terracing, that kind of thing.

4. As commercial farming utilizes machinery and electricity, it increases the power supply to areas in the suburb of farming land. It helps to improvise the local infrastructure. Roads are paved for quick and comfortable transportation of products and equipment.
