In a tv interview the other night, John was on the line. He is the owner of French Baker, a bakeshop that is ubiquitous in the malls – there are 65 branches nationwide. John related that when he started with his first outlet, the issue he encountered was the unsold bread. Take note that baked items have a life span of 24 hours only and 48 hours at the most (but they can last longer when refrigerated).

A friend advised John to sell the leftover bread in the shelves at 50% discount. When he started that promo he was not thinking that it will be the breaking point of his business. At closing time of 9 pm the leftover bread were all bought on the first night. The sale continued for nights until John realized that an hour before closing time there was already a long line. People want to buy the leftover bread. Until now the 50% sale by closing time is already a trade mark of French Baker bakeshop.
