A domain can go a long way in determining how successful a website would be, you don't expect a domain with 10 letters to be anything worthwhile even though there might be outliers.

Here are some tips to get you started

1) Try and get a .com: A .com domain is authoritative, it shows you're ready for business, if you can't get a dot com for your business then you can go ahead and add some suffixes or prefixes, like for example if your company name is Trendri and it's taken you can use getTrendri.com or TrendriApp.com just something that'll make it memorable for people.

2) Keep it Simple and Easy to Remember: a domain Is just an address or identity, you don't want your users to be racking their brains trying to figure out the name of your blog, a simple name is the best.

3) Register it Today: Yeah, you heard me right, register that name today, someone might be thinking of the name and maybe thinking of registering it too, domains are very cheap, go ahead and register your domain even if the website is not ready yet, at least the identity is well secured.

I hope you like these tips, please leave a feedback.

The first thing you need to know is that there are many different domain name extensions available. You can choose from .com, .net, .org, and other extensions.

You also need to make sure that your domain name is available on the Internet. This means that when somebody types in your domain name they will see a page that lists all of the domains associated with that website. The more popular a site is the easier it will be for people to find it by typing in its domain name.

If you want people to be able to access your website easily then it should have one of the most popular extension types such as .com or .net. These types of extensions are considered highly valuable because they show off their value as a business or organization and give potential customers more information about what they do when they type in their domain name rather than just seeing an empty space where their website should be displayed.

I am not sure if you are aware of the basic fact related to a domain. The top level domain does not give value to the domain name, what actually makes valuable is the second level domain. If you are trying to register a domain, you need to understand one simple fact that is search engine do not discriminate websites based on the domain extension used, ranking is depended on the second level domain or your actual domain name. The keywords used on your domain name will determine the SEO value. It is true that a lot of people go after dot com that's because dot com being oldest domain is most trusted and most favored. You can try registering a dot com but it is impossible to get one word domain or even two words domain with a dot com extension. I think niche domains are better than generic domains.
