Passion or Money: what makes you choose a profession for your self?

It seems the days when people make career choices out of passion to give in their own contribution and out of passion for humanity are over. I am beginning to think more people are only focused on a career path that would enable them achieve financial Independence in the future.
This has led to a situation whereby a lot of parents are trying so hard to convince their children to study medical courses due to their believe of the fact that job security is assured. Some of these children end up performing poorly in their academics and it doesn't make sense because they won't have the motivation to continue pushing when challenges present.

What do you think? Should people choose money over passion in deciding what career path is best for themselves?

You know, it is passion that drives one through a career path, while in some cases, it is money.

For an average Nigerian who is simply looking for how to survive the hardship on the country, he will surely go for the money. That kind of person will tell you that passion will not feed him, that it is money that will feed him.

But in a developed nations like Canada, USA, UK and the likes where the government adequately provide the basic amenities of life, you will likely not pursue money like someone in a developing nation. Over there, you are likely to pursue passion, thereby even adding value to the country's economy

So allow me start by saying it is in Nigeria parent's want their kids to study medicine or study a medical course because they believe it's easier to secure a job in that find and then the pay is not at all bad. Now back to your question. Personally I think the aspect of choosing a career should come from your mind and also you should be able to achieve financial stability with it

It is very obvious, we all went through the part, inwhich our parent want us to study a particular course and because you dont have choice you have to blend in with the course. But as time goes on we have come to realize that course did not determine success, it is money that determine success.
During the years we spend going from one lecture room to the other for 5years -6years (strike inclusive), our friends that decide to do business than going to school is now a millionaire. so if you ask me thousands time, i will choose money over passion repeatedly.
