Should we depend on pension or continue working?

This is a personal one now for me I will like to continue working even still my old age, I wouldn't want to stay idle or be bored. So I still will love to keep myself busy. So I will still be working even if the pay is small, no problem. But I will like my own business than working for anybody

As a retiree you ought to have made provisions for better paying business or investment plan before retiring. Those investment or business the person engaged on during active service years coupled with monthly stipend as a pensioner will serve him or her rest of their lives.

I have seen many people depending on their pension but It all depends on your bills and expenses you have, if you feel your pension found is enough for your bills and your expenses I see nothing wrong in depending on your pension, but if you feel that your pension will not be enough to pay your bills I suggest you get another job.

My father was still working at age 80 and my uncle retired when he was 85. They were both in the US and I would like that. Here it is 65 years for the forced retirement. I am now 66 and I feel young and energetic but I cannot find a job at my age. Those living in the US are lucky. My older brother is 69 and he is still working there.

It is advisable to keep working and very light jobs so as to keep you healthy or you still get something as take home even if your pension is very ok. Most people don't find it easy living on pension alone.

It depends on the system that the person retired from either private or public. If you retired from a government work especially in Nigeria, depending on your pension for survival is like depending on a toddler to feed you as most government pensioners in Nigeria are always owed their pensions. Private or multinationals companies are a bit better. For a Nigerian, I will advice the person to still continue to work.

Like it or not whether to depend on pension as a means of survival or contue working in order to receive payment is not a decision to be made without considering your health status. Health and age will determine if a retiree can continue service or not because most retirement is done based on age.

Depending on pension or continue working are not sustainable at certain age. The most important thing planning for life after such age which is best done by investing your money and your time in growing your personal business which is sustainable and can also be passed to your next generation.
I want to agree with your view because with retirement comes old age, that we might not know how it might be at that time. So planning ahead and having a sustainable investment on ground might just be the best bet. Working when we are aging isn’t guaranteed at all in the long run

The retirement age should be a resting age in real sense and an ideal country. Some developed countries don't even allow their retiree to involve in any productive activities because to an economist, it is anin productive age.
But my focus is for the developing countries who only pay pension for their retiree without any other forms of help coming from their government.
To me, there should be time to rest. It is not advisable to work till our energy is sapped. We should not wait till our energy is exhausted before we stop working.
Whats your thought on this? Should we still continue working even after we have retired from active work? Or we should only depend on our pension for our daily needs.

It really boils down to individual capabilities. if a pensioner still has the ability and capability to go into business of course he or she should go ahead. I also know some people who are retired and they are doing businesses. I also know some people who only depend on their pensions and also help from their children for survival.

I do not think that we should depend on pension alone when it comes to making money. We should ivvest in a reliable business that would pay off later in our lives and never depend on jobs because there is no guarantee that you will ever be able to secure your job and recieve pension. You may nver receive anything at all. So I would suggest people to invest in a reliable business so that they can live independently much later in their lives.

It is not advisable to depend on pension most especially in Nigeria thou we have some country that has special treatment for there pensioners but the case is different here due to our corrupt leaders. it is better to engage in business before the due working time expire. the business will serve as earn means.

Taking music class is also work or what do you think. I am thinking of not doing anything at all. Just wake up, eat and sleep. Or we don't deserve all these even at 70? Msut we engage in some activities till death comes. Can't we have time for ourselves. I am planning as well to stop working by 70. But I am doubting if I won't engage in some activities because my body is accustomed to doing something.

Anything stressful should not be encourage like wise eat and sleep won't be a good idea because it can affect the person's health , he can be engage in a supervisory role in his own business such that he can go and come anytime just to keep him fit,
Taking music class is not going to be stressful.... It's gonna be a way to exercise the body. Because it will be bad for you to just wake up, eat and sleep... That kind of person will die on time... And even if I retire I still don't wanna die on time so there must be some kind of work done to exercise the muscle and not to feel bored....

Retirement to me is a time you need to rest.... The body is already weaken, old age is setting in and health challenges are popping in... All that is needed is to rest and reap the fruit of your labor. God willing I'm planning to work till I'm 70 years old and after that I might just start to take free and voluntary music class to while away time while I wait for death to come.

It is not advisable to work I'll be engaged in any stressful activity after retirement and it is expected that while in active service you should have made some achievements I'll probably set up some businesses that you could get busy on with after retirement such that your pension will be enough for you to spend because it is expected that before you retire you have little to no responsibilities anymore.
