How To resolve a problem for an item purchased from Ebay compromised account?

If a purchase you made turns out to be related to unauthorized use of the seller’s account and you are not able to open a refund request in the Resolution Center these are some steps you can take.

If you paid with PayPal, check the transaction details to see if the payment is pending/unclaimed. If payment is currently unclaimed you may be able to cancel the payment directly from the transaction. ebay cannot help if the payment is pending/unclaimed. See this PayPal help page for how to cancel pending funds. If you are not able to cancel the pending/unclaimed payment it will revert back to you after 30 days. If the funds have been claimed you can call eBay customer service.

If you are outside of the United States you can call using an online voice service such as Skype (https://www.skype.com/en/) or Google Voice (https://voice.google.com/about). You can also contact customer service by sending a private message on eBay’s social media pages. Send a message and an eBay employee will get back to you as soon as possible.

In addition to eBay’s protections, you can visit this PayPal help page to see what protection options they can provide. You may be able to file a refund request on PayPal for Item Not Received through their dispute process (more details available on this PayPal help page). Don’t file an unauthorized purchase claim as this would not apply to your purchase when it was your seller’s account that was compromised. PayPal’s timeframes will differ from eBay’s when it comes to when you can open a request for a refund and when that refund can be provided. You can always contact PayPal’s Customer Support to confirm their policies and procedures using this link on PayPal’s site.
