What do I need to know about assistive technology and providers?

Families often pick different providers offering different services to help with their AT needs and goals.

These providers usually consist of:
  • AT Advisors, who may be:
    • AT assessors - these are healthcare professionals with professional-level qualifications who evaluate a child's specific AT needs through an assessment and provide evidence to the NDIS for medium and high-cost AT items.
    • AT mentors - these are individuals who have personal AT experience and offer advice on AT use but do not conduct assessments.
  • AT suppliers employ staff knowledgeable about their products but may lack information about alternative AT options.
